CLEAN CATOOSA 2020

JOIN LIFT and LET’S SERVE CATOOSA COUNTY!!

CLEAN CATOOSA – a county-wide Earth Day initiative to celebrate and contribute to the beauty of our environment. This year we had to postpone our standard event due to the pandemic, but typically we hold the event in April on a Saturday close to Earth Day. We are going to still hold the Work Project portion of the event at sites across Catoosa County from 9a-12p on Saturday, October 10th. We’ll also serve individual lunches to all interested volunteers at 12p at the Claudia Nance Rollins Youth Center – 7197 Nashville Street, Ringgold, GA 30736. We feel that having small groups of people (often who are existing groups already exposed to each other) working in outdoor conditions can be accomplished while remaining sensitive to necessary Covid-19 precautions. So we’re moving forward with our event and hoping to gather again in April for the full version.LIFT Youth Center Inc is honored to bring the City of Ringgold, the City of Fort Oglethorpe, Catoosa County Government and the Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce together with area non-profits and passionate citizens to create the opportunity for lots of small groups to serve our County! We have the POTENTIAL for 50+ projects of three types:
1) Trash Pick-ups
2) Beautification Projects
3) Creek Clean-upsThese projects will be split between Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe. Trash Pick-up Teams will work along roadsides and in areas that need attention which will require only that participants be ready to work! Beautification Teams will be planting trees, restoring creek-side vegetation, and reclaiming areas that have been neglected. Creek Clean-up Projects are for water-lovers where teams will work FROM boats on sections of both the South & West Chickamauga Creeks. They will be IN the water, so people who sign-up to participate will need to have their own paddle boards, canoes or kayaks and life vests. Generally, all Work Projects will happen on the morning of the 10th from 9a-12p but start times may vary based on project needs. Each Project does have specifics to how many people can serve and some have age limits.TO SIGN UP:
IF you have an EXISTING GROUP of people that would like to participate together and can take one of our open projects – or better yet you may want to CREATE a project by doing work some where you are connected to (i.e., a trash pick-up in the roadside area surrounding your business or church for example). We have Scout Groups, Church Groups, Businesses, Neighborhoods, Families, Clubs and Sports Teams – what sort of group can you gather? Email tina@lift-ringgold.org to set that up!!IF you are an individual or family who would like to sign-up for one of our Public Projects (we provide a Team Leader and you’ll meet and be led by them that morning) then you will go to the Catoosa County Parks and Recreation website
